We are happy to invite you to the 3-day event "Constant Craving - Performing Under Condition - 24 Graduation Acts" which we will be hosting in our premises and is the culmination of our collaboration with the Dutch Art Institute for this season. June 30, 31 and July 1, 2018 will be dedicated to 24 "graduation acts" in the form of lecture/performances by our outgoing students.

We are thrilled to announce that in the upcoming months State of Concept and DAI Roaming Academy merge their programs*, beginning with the exhibition "A Case Of Perpetual No" of artist and alumna Yota Ioannidou, co-produced with DAI.

On June 1 & 2 students and tutors of seven so-called COOP study-groups will disperse over Athens and present, at a variety of locations, COOP SUMMIT 2018, the outcome of their year-long inquiry, directly followed by the symposium Roaming Assembly #22: Eurasian Steps, curated by Binna Choi and You Mi, on June 3 at State of Concept.

Benaki Museum of Greek Culture


State of Concept is happy to invite you to the screening of the film “Feed Me” by the multimedia artist Rachel Maclean. The screening will take place on May 24th at 7pm at Benaki Museum of Greek Culture (Koumpari 1 st. Athens). The event is organized in partnership with the British Council.  

The screening is taking place on the occasion of Maclean’s solo exhibition entitled “New Worlds” which opened on May 11th at State of Concept Athens.  After the screening Rachel Maclean will discuss the film and her work with the curator of the exhibition and founder of State of Concept, iLiana Fokianaki.

State of Concept is happy to present the first act of a lecture-performance by Yota Ioannidou. The artist launches a new thematic chapter of events and exhibitions at State of Concept, which will explore the concept of justice under the title "Department of Justice".

Moving Images: Artists Films from the Jarman Award


State of Concept in collaboration with the British Council is happy to present within the programming of Future Climates, artists films from the Jarman Award. Amongst them artists such as John Akomfrah, Karen Mirza & Brad Butler, Ed Atkins and others will show their work.

State of Concept is very happy to host Phenomenon Anafi, for an introduction of their activities, a presentation of their book and a sneak peak of their next projects for the summer of 2017. Phenomenon is an initiative that started in 2015 in the island of Anafi.

Solution Communism is a one-day symposium organized by iLiana Fokianaki, Ingo Nierman and Joshua Simon, held at State of Concept Athens. This is the first gathering, meant to be followed by further exchanges towards a book, Solution 275 - ...: Communism (Sternberg Press), scheduled for late 2017.

OpenGround is a project initiated by State of Concept, Athens and lettera27, Milan. The two organisations are partnering on the occasion of Tandem Europe 2015-17 to co-create a replicable training model for the professional development of artists and curators.
